Retrofitting Autodimming F55 rear view mirror

There's an older thread covering first gen MINIs and retrofitting Autodimming rear view mirrors (looks like the wiring was in place already and was possible). Does anyone have experience with the same situation on 3rd GEN? It's driving me nuts that my F55 doesn't have that feature.
