It is not normal that your MINI revs are up to 4000 rpm in neutral. Normally it should go up 1500 rpm with a cold engine (automatic shoke). I suggest to go to your nearest dealer and get it fixed

Download the Functionality Map (Sticky above in the CVT Forum) which lists the Limits and other information. Keep an eye on that space too; Paul shortly be loading a new version that I just sent him after the CVT conference in Sacramento.

There is very little about this car that is "or so" ;) when it comes to computer controlled behaviors, nearly everything is quite crisp.

The engine is rev limited at precisely at 4000rpm in Park, Reverse, and Neutral; 6000rpm in Drive, SportDrive, and Steptronic. Only the forward Selection limits are dependent on the ZF Gearbox because the ecoTronic VT1F CVT has a maximum input shaft speed of 6000rpm. Simply, this is the reason for the 6000rpm redline in our cars versus 7150rpm in the manuals.

Now, why is any of this a problem? Why do you want it changed?
