Hello I’m new here ? I’m the new owner of a Mini Cooper S 2014 and I just discovered that the rail on the passenger side doesn’t work, my mum was trying to get in the back so my brother had to push the passenger side forward so my mum could have a bit of leg room but the seat won’t stay in that position, it literally just goes back all the way back on it’s own my brother almost crushed my mum’s legs ? any idea what could it be?

This is difficult to explain but I will give it a go. There is a little metal block that slides in the seat rails and it is the memory. When you pull up the front bar it slides with the seat. When you pull up on the backrest easy entry lever the seats slides forward but the memory block stays. It isn't unusual for this little block to need a bit of help to slide about properly. Use a torch and look at the rear part of the seat rail. Use the easy entry lever to slide the seat forward and the memory block stays so is easy to spot.
