Check your policy and supplier. I think quite a few will provide cover for up to a grand within a normal quote. If you need extra cover you will have to request it and probably list the kit for a premium, of course

I guess the insurance companies would not care if you don't mention the value of your ICE but will just limit the payout to that listed in the policy.

There are also specialist brokers that deal in insurance just for the ICE.

The other approach is to get the best standard deal that you can and try to make your install as unattractive as possible IE stealth. Remove all manufactures logos and stickers, mount the speakers behind stock grilles or match stock finishes where ever possible.

Just the type of install I was talking about. Once all locked up the HU is the only give away and obviously that panel can be removed.

Nice Job and a good choice of kit. Are you happy with it? How did you get the speaker wire through the connector, drill it?

Yeah, i am very pleased with it, sounds great. I had to drill the plastic connector to get the speaker wire through. Hardest part i found was getting the speaker wire through into the inside of the car, i had to push through the rubber grommet and then reseal it afterwards.

Very nice install. Very clean and who needs boot space anyway :p :D

Going back about 4 years ago, I used to have my ICE insured seperately. I used to go to shows with it and enter comps, but now it's just for pleasure.........at least it will be when I get my MINI and get sorted again :)
It got to the point where it had increased so much, it cost me more to insure my ICE than the car :( I can't remeber name of company at moment, but if I do I'll let you know.
