As you have probably seen the Mini spacesaver tyre is 115/70x15,
where 115 is the width in mm so the 125 tyre is 10mm wider and 80 means it has a taller height profile than the 70 profile Mini tyre.

You can use the online tyre calculators below to compare exact difference in diameter but it is pretty tight for space under the Mini and it may be too big to fit the plastic spare wheel carrier? It may also hang down too low with the extra 10mm width for ground clearance.
Tire Diameter And Circumference Calculator

(Looks like 21.339 inches dia for Mini tyre and 22.874 inches for the Rover tyre).

Thanks mab01uk , i agree that i don't think there will be that much play under the car , strange that some have said the rover space saver will fit, they all have this same size?

Well it looks like its the BMW space saver! Damn! can get the rover ones for £10-£15 on ebay! but the BMW ones just now are starting at £50+

Already contacted Mini and the parts will cost me £83 + vat but no way am i getting the wheel from them! lol , oh and they also said i couldn't fit the space saver myself as it must be done on a ramp!! I think this guy must be on a bonus!! :D:D:D

It may be that the Rover wheel rim is the same size but just that the actual tyre in this case is bigger.......wheel rims can fit several different widths of tyre as long as the rim diameter (15") is the same. You may be able to source a different Rover one on ebay with the smaller tyre from a different model, sure i have seen some with the same size tyre as mini.

I fitted my spacesaver without even jacking the car up!! :)

PS. BMminiparts below are sometimes cheaper on new parts, also the MINI Dealer who sponsors the Mini2 forum but postage may be too much extra?

Also the specialist Mini breakers sometimes have them:

Hi,

I did check eBay and searched for rover space saver wheel but everyone came up with that size, I will phone a local tyre company and see if it's possible to fit the smaller tyre onto the wheel.

Thanks for the links, it's well worth a shot as for the moment there is only one listed on eBay!

Hi,

Well mab01uk you were correct , i called my local tyre dealer and it is possible to get and put the smaller tyre on BUT he told me it is a very hard tyre to get and he would have to special order it, his best advice as mab01uk has already mentioned was to try a breaker yard first!

My hunt continues lol

P.S he did say DO NOT go to the dealer! lol

Hi,

Ok so i found a Mazda MX5 spare saver which is listed as this

BRIDGESTONE T115 / 70 D15 90M

When checking on the link from mab01uk on a previous post the offset is listed as the same at 45

There is a slight difference and i am not sure if its important or not?

Mini one 2002 = PDC (4x100) Centre bore (56.1) Offset (45) Mounting (Bolt 12x 1,50)

Now the Mazda is the exact same as above apart from the Centre bore is 54.1

The one i have seen is similar to this......

Centre bore is the large hole in the middle of the wheel.........it must be the right size, too small and it won't fit the Mini centre hub, too big and it won't locate the wheel properly. Wheel nut taper seatings and brake caliper/disc clearance can also vary on shape of wheel rim.....the good thing about the Rover wheels is they match the Mini because the Mk1 Mini was mostly designed by Rover with BMW backing, so has more common/parts likely to fit. You could use the Mazda tyre though if it was cheap enough and fit it onto a cheap Rover spacesaver rim! :)
