Stop/Start light not on when ignition switched on

On our r56 mini one we have noticed that the stop start is not working. I understand that there are a number of things that need to be in place for it to work. When you switch the ignition on, shouldn’t the symbol on the Rev counter go yellow to show the car is doing it’s checks? I have noticed that ours does not come on.

Any advice would be much appreciated.
