strange box

I am probably the only person who does not know this, but what is the box (looking like a smoke alarm) planted on the inside roof, just above passenger seats?

I think its do with the alarm as it could be the motion sensors,but I might be wrong can anyone else confirm this please.

You are right. It is the motion sensors. I've got the alarm on mine. It's the same unit that is in most BMW's.

I have something like that in my BMW, but it is for the interior thermostat for HVAC regulation.
