Hi everyone,

I wondered if you could help. I believe there is a major service that’s needed which incorporates the supercharger but don’t know what’s the best way to go about it and who to take it to without being hung out to dry. I have a Mini Cooper s 2006 with 79000 on the clock. I have just purchased it as a project and wanted to learn as much as I can.

If anyone could help would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks allot

First off, congratulations! Nice car. Great fun to drive.

I have an 06 S with about the same mileage. I've found it difficult to find an honest mechanic who's also knowledgeable or willing to learn about MINIs. I fortunately have found one, but I have to be watchful of some of the mechanics he works with. I've found that knowing as much as possible before going in is helpful. (Which you appear to be doing.) Along with websites such as this one, the Bentley Mini Cooper Service Manual (2002 to 2006) has proven to be quite helpful. I've recently obtained the How To Maintain and Modify MINI Cooper (covers Mark 1, R50/R52/R53 Cars) and find it helpful as well, but it is mainly for doing things on your own. That requires a lot of tools, some of which are quite pricey.

Oh, and see if you have an R53. I believe the cut off is July 2006, prior to which is R53.

I'd say, start with the Bentley manual. It's available (or was) on amazon.

I hope this helps.

MINI Specialist in Leeds, I'm not recommending or otherwise as with any company you can get bad mechanics/good mechanics within the company.

I done ours with the help of YouTube and it went flawless.
I also changed the water pump and both the orings one inside the flange mounted to the body.
Once the car is in front end service mode it's a not that bad.
Also whilst your there look at the rad and the thermostat housing.
