I have a 2005 Mini and tonight I noticed that my "redline" lights are lit just before 7000 rpm. It looks like the numbers should light around 5500rpm. Is this normal?

Redline is 6800. Where'd you get 5500?

the lights that aren't illuminated are used in CVT cars, which have a lower redline (5500rpm, as you state)

Plus it means that Mini can change the redline with an ECU softare update - as I believe happened with the CVT cars not long ago.
