not a fan of the bmw n47 diesel engine, have seen chains fail as early as 50k then i've seen them do over 100k barely most give issue around the 70-80k mark, also dpf filter has it impact on them as well as cars that dont get driven above 2000 revs all the time will block the dpf then the cars ecu will try to regen it but if used a round town a lot chances are it wont have enough time of 3-4k running for 30 minutes to clear it, if dont clear it unburnt diesel gets in to the oil past piston rings and breather blow back etc this thins oil this destroys the chains faster,, i know of a few cars that had dpf deleted and egr and both have faired better than most well over 100,000 miles with no issues so far , but of course thats a mot failure if detected, at present its a visual test and done right no one would no,, if were my money go for cooper s petrol N18 engines are good as long as doing timing chain around the 60-70k on n16 n16 sooner
