Hello,
I am looking to buy a Mini Cooper S 2005, however, there is one thing stopping me. I left the door open and decided to change the gears, and I found a sound while changing the gears without the car running. While driving there was no difficulty (Except the Reverse Gear, hard to switch to), and the car was running smoothly.

I'm thinking this could be a transmission linkage problem, please let me know ASAP.

Regards

Without providing a video or audio clip no one on this green earth is gonna be able to diagnose this as a problem or normal vehicle performance

if there's a linkage fault on these it'd either be tight to select/move or lots of lash in the lever perhaps, there are a couple of nylon blocks on the linkage that can wear or break causing this, otherwise some degree of 'clack' when shifting is going to be typical if listening with the door open, as above post a decent clip etc....
