Hi all , new to forum.
Can someone help me with some instructions about removing my knackered turbo from my Mini Cooper D.
I’ve seen loads about front turbo removal but mine has the turbo at the back of the engine bay and it looks a real bitch to get at...... please help.

how yes they are a pain in arse to do, another joy of n47 bmw diesel engines, remove the plastics from the baulk head helps for room can also remove the engine mount at top and ratchet strap the engine forward with tow eye in the bumper , make sure use wood block on sump with a piece of foam to hold engine up , ie jack engine up high and pull to front of car makes loads of room to do what you need to do,,
this all said are you sure its turbo failure, they do suffer from dpf filter blocking and restriction or boost and also effect the vnt nozzles, if its empty'd oil in exhaust a new dpf filter is a must or remove ot and map it out could be a option,

Hi thank you I will give that a go.... think it’s definitely the turbo....smoking on revs and oil is in the inter cooler which I have drained out etc.
for sure you need to now why the turbo failed ie the dpf filter will now be no good anyway life span of a good one used on motorway 100k the early psa engines were used in volvo and ford both these makers put a 75.000 miles service item on them which realistically is about it,, where bmw mini pretend they dont exist it would seem, either way the dpf will now be needing to changed as oil and crud would of got to it for sure,, also would not be bad idea to drop sump clean out any debris that dropped down the oil return on the bottom of turbo this if left will nail the oil pump good idea to clean out oil pump as well..
