   My car got hit yesterday in the staff car park at school - gutted. Someone clipped the rear wheel trim at the join with the bumper, then drove all the way down my car with their bumper.  Not through to the base coat thank god. :(
I think i know who did it too. We checked on the cctv and a landrover discovery pulls into the space and stays there all the time i'm there - and leaves before me. The height of the marks matches his car bumper. Heres the rub; he's one of our school inspectors - and i've phoned him and while open to negotiation, is adamant it wasnt him. But the damage was not there before i left for work.

Anyway, he let me look at his car today at his work (while he was in a meeting) and the corner of his front bumper looks like its had more rubs than a pompey hooker! Theres no way i can prove the rub on his is new! Even the car park attendant said he must be a terrible driver!

Update, he's just phoned, and while not admitting liability (fair enough) he is willing to talk about the qoutes i'll get to have it fixed. I think he'll find there will be no negotiation...

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGH! rant over, thank you for listening...

I wish you my best in your car becoming well again and like you say in your message, just think it could have been worse even though i can imagine how unhappy you must be feeling at the moment :)

Hope all is well soon and please let us know how your baby is doing :)

I had a similar thing happen about a month ago - some twerp reversed onto our drive thring to do a 3-point turn, hit the MINI (setting the alarm off) and drove off. I him followed on foot and as it was a cul-de-sac he didn't have anywhere to go. Classic part was he claimed he wasn't sure if he'd hit it - this with our car flashing it lights and the alarm sounds

The bumper had been pushed enough aginast the metal frame to crease the plastic - hard to spot but easy to feel. Dealer quoted £750  for a new rear plastic bumper (for PDC sensors) which included painting. I asked about the Aerokit rear, which is pre-painted and the guy (bodyshop manager just waffled and tried to put me off it. When I called and asked parts dept and service dept how much to supply and fit an aero bumper it came to just under £400.

I told the guy and he agreed £500 to save his NCB - I bought a full aerokit and after chaising him for a couple of weeks I went to where he workd and collected the cheque myself. Luckily it cleared.

Hopefully you can get enough out of the guy to cover your costs too. :)

Trust me tony, one of my more sobering thoughts when i found the damage was about you, as i had only just read your thread. My offer of a drive at Bruntingthorpe still stands ;) Thanks for your words, i appreciate it.

Cheers people, i'll let you know how it pans out. I'm hoping the damage looks worse than it actually is, i'm not out to fleece the bloke - just want my car back to the mint condition it was. I've calmed down a bit now - amazing the power of alcohol to sooth the mind :D

AWWW NOOO!!!! How awful! What sort of damage are we talking about? What a shame! Especially if it was the big boss so to speak! Land rovers are the worst cars on the road! Obviously he needs to feel important!

I;m sorry Tony what a shame!

Hopefully you'll get it sorted soon.

Where are you going to go to get it fixed? BMW?

These pics don't really show it that well, but to be honest the damage is not severe - just annoying on (what was  ) a mint condition car...

Last pic shows what the wheel arch SHOULD look like... I'm hoping he hasnt creased the metal underneath

There is nothing more annoying than somebody damaging your pride and joy and I've experienced it a couple of times before on previous cars I've owned. I took delivery of my Mini last Thursday and I'm making family members park their cars next to me in the parking spaces outside the house and I'm being very picky about what cars I park next to at work. We have a lot of little kids who live in our street, who unfortunately swing their car doors out onto peoples cars without a care... of course you don't care when your about 8 years old about things like other peoples paintwork. It gives me nightmares just thinking about it.
