USB music issue

Hi I have a 2015 Mini Countryman, when I plug my iPhone into the USB port it shows the music on the screen but doesn’t play through the car? I have bought a usb & aux into light cable but this plays through the car but doesn’t show the music? Doesn’t anyone else have this issue?
