I'm sure that I recently read a post where a gent in the states MCS, was given a software update .......and it was V39.1. Is this the latest update that we should be asking our dealers to install, if for what ever reason our cars are in for work, or am I mistaken ?

My understanding is it mainly for pollution control purposes so you are going to get it whether you like it or not.

There have been problems reported by some people who have ECU upgrades and the dealer installed over them.

Just got it. Drove about 35 miles so far. No noticeable change from 38.

I think the people noticing changes have moved from a version earlier than 38.
That version did make a difference, at least on my car.

Just received two recall notices

v. 39 is supposed to be emissions related...
I just received not one, but two, identical, recall notices in today's mail. They said that there was a software upgrade required for "certain" 02, 03, and 04 MINIs to correct a software problem that might not light the "hey stupid, your gas cap is not on tight" light. Therefore, your MINI could be out of compliance by leaking vapors into the air. I bet that's what 39.1 is all about.

Going to rush right over for that one, oh yeah.....

Cheers,

Dave
