Hi Everyone,

First time poster, sorry to be that guy but I am desperate for help!

Got the Mini in the garage, its a 64 plate Cooper S, the engine juts isn't working properly at all, the garage says that they think a coil/cylinder 1 has burnt out, they say they have tried coil packs on it and its not having it and its worst when it is is idling, they have got to take the engine out to make the repair and have quoted around £2000-£2500 to fix it.

Is there another way around it?

if oil pressure is good dont need to pull the engine most likely a valve issue or piston ring at worst , even if was valve issue i would always re-ring them and fit the better solid oil rings in there and do away with the bmw flexi single piece oil rings as are crap . all that can be done with engine in car , just takes 20 minutes to pull front away enough to access the turbo and cat and manifold bolts
