Hi all,
My first post here. I've already found several posts very useful for fixing my Oct 2001 Mini Cooper, e.g. starter motor swap. So thanks guys for that.
I have a request. Has anybody got a spare front strut top mount or know of somebody breaking an early model? I believe the front suspension was changed after Mar 2002. I've tried ECP and BMW, but they only stock the later, revised, version. I'm in the middle of fitting the second side new front strut (first side had puked out all its oil and wheel was bouncing violently, as you'd expect). When I dismantled the second upright, I see the top spring mount has fractured - seems its take a hard knock and the two halves of the bearing race have bit missing! Picture attached with the ball bearings removed.
