Waving, flashing etc...

Hi all,

I've had my Cooper S for 2 months now & can't believe that fellow MINI owners don't wave or flash there lights. Everytime I do I get ignored :-(

When I had my Lotus Elise, every other Lotus I saw flashed back at me, how come you mini owners out there dont.

Well if anyone does see me driving on the M25/M3 to Leatherhead in the morning in a Dark Silver Cooper S (AM53....) Please wave or flash, it would really brighten up my day.

Don't take it personally ;) It used to be the norm but with so many Minis on the road these days I've stopped doing it unless I see an identical looking car coming the other way or one driven by a member of the fairer sex. Then I give a wave :D
Don't give up or get frustrated! Kepp waving, honking, and flashing!!! :D

I honked at someone today in the left-turn lane (U.S. roads) as I passed and it was two young ladies in a red w/ white top Cooper. They were staring straight ahead like deer in headlights. Probably frozen stiff as this morning was bitter cold. Oh well...maybe next time! ;)
i stopped doing it too... couple of times i wave they either just tilt their head up higher.. thinkin they are better than me... some just speeds off.. thinkin im trying to race them... a few others look at me with an awkward look...

now if its a hot chick... then i wave! :D
I've had my MCS about 2 weeks and I've had 2 people wave/honk at me in my area...only 2 MINIs that I know of in the area anyway. I've been caught off guard both times, sorry ladies if you read this...lol :(
Loads of people used to wave/flash around here, but I think our MINI driving community has finally been saturated with estate agents :(

Oh well!
Estate agents.. just like Top Gear said :(

Still.. that tragic event aside, I still bought one and will be flashing me lights :D

Hey!

What happened to your Lotus Elise?

My partner is thinking of getting one of those... perhaps (he changes his mind about every second day...) :)

I always wave...
non wavers should be banned from driving a MINI.

Hear! Hear! I've gotten just blank stares or no responces so far. :(
The Lotus...

Hi,

I PX'd the Lotus for the MINI as I am now travelling on the motorway a lot. The Lotus was far to noisy & uncomfortable on the motorway... Perhaps I am getting a little old. I sometimes do miss it though.
Pete
im in the states (colorado)

not a bunch of mini s's around here, but they all wave and flash. Probably becasue they are more exclusive around here. :p
anyways, yah, all non honkers/flashers (de-fun-i-fyers) should be banned. jk all mini owners rock:p
kepp waving, it make a bad day good when a fellow mini flashes back:D

Hey Pete!
Did you have the standard fitted exhaust on your Elise, or the extra loud ones?
I heard, that in the touring pack the volume of the car is much more bearable. Well, I'll find out soon enough, because we're going to test drive one... :D
I had the sports exhaust fitted which was a little louder than standard but gave an extra 5-10Bhp.....

It was Norfolk mustard (yelllow) '98... I loved it, it was a Mk1 .... Be aware though it is a pain in the butt to put up/down the roof, you have to use allen keys, poppers & clips...... takes about 2-3 minutes up/down.

I had it for 5 years, so had my fun.......The Mini is much quiter & almost as much fun. Although the thing I miss the most is getting the back to swing out on wet roundabouts & applying opposite lock.... On the mini I get understear & the traction control light coming on... Which isnt quite the same :-(

Hey, remember there was no traction control in the Lotus, and switch it off... :D

You can get oversteer in the MINI, just have to search a bit harder than in the Lotus.
We drove an Elise yesterday, but it's rather new, meaning they now have Toyota motors would you believe it

But it was a lot of fun :)

Maybe in a year or so we can get one as a second car, and get rid of our shopping trolley (a Matiz..... shame shame shame)
