Well, I've had a bad day...............

Earlier today, three of the girls from work and myself headed to a wake for the sister of one of the other girls who work in our office - she died yesterday aged 27 - contracted menengitis only last Tuesday, and was brain-dead by yesterday...............very sad...............:(

On the way home, it started snowing quite heavily - we were three hours from home............anyway, we battled through the snow which was piling up quite badly by now.

Three miles from home, a guy in front of us lost control of a van, started spinning, and came to a halt sideways against the kerb. I had been keeping what I thought was a safe distance, about 40 yards, travelling only at about 15-20 mph by now - as soon as I touched the brakes, abs kicked in, roads hadn't been gritted, and my tail stepped out - ended up sliding down the hill sideways into the edge of the van...............:(

So close to home - just goes to show - rear wheel drive and snow doesn't mix well - I was driving the 5 series, not the MINI thankfully.............;)

The guy I hit got out of his car in the pelting snow, looked at it, and drove on - no damage to him, or injuries to any of us thankfully..........

Anyway, I guess the event we were returning from puts it all into prespective in any event...........

Might trade the Beemer in for something more snow friendly................

Holy cow. That really does sound like the day from hell Aidan, hope you're feeling a little bit better now at least, you'd be amazed what a night's sleep will do to ease the stress of it all.

Owen,
oh man, thats tough!

Sorry to hear mate :(

Onwards and upwards.

Sorry to hear about that Aidan, hope everything is alright,

It just goes to show that your never safe.......

Goodness me!!! Thankfully you are live, well and kicking :)

At least your name came up as a winner in the Privilege Competition, so that's something (small) to be cheerful about.
All the best to your friend Aiden. So very young.

Glad you're OK my friend. Take care.
Things will sort themselves out I hope.

Glad to hear you, your passengers and the van driver are all OK.

That is tragic.:( Very sad indeed...only 27 as well.....her poor parents.:(

I'm glad you and Denise are ok Aiden.
Time to make a pile of hot chocolate and hide under the blankets for a week?

Well that all just fecking sucks and there's no way around it. Glad you four weren't hurt, I'm sure that would have put paid on the whole deal for certain.

Can't imagine the shock of having someone close to you go that quickly and unexpectedly. :(

Hugs from Gail and myself. If it helps at all, we haven't been above 0ºF in something like a week... but that probably doesn't help anyway.
:red: :red: :)

Glad to hear you and your friends are OK:)
Life can be very cruel:(
Just goes to show you do not what is around the next corner.

Oh dear Aiden. Very sad news indeed. :( Life is so unfair sometimes.

You thought about the cheaper solution? Buy 4 steel rims and a set of winter tyres. My mate who lives near Blair Atholl in Scotland has a 5 series. He swaps over to a set of steelies with winter tyres and is near invincible in the snow.
