Whalen fitment on 2005 Cooper S
Hey, boys and girls; I have a question.
I'm wondering whether any owners of 2005 Cooper S cars have experienced trouble fitting one of my shift knobs.
You see, I have this habit of not keeping specific records of the model years of my customers' cars (indeed, I don't always know the year!), and someone has asked me specifically about fitting a knob to his 2005.
So how about it? Can someone help me out here?

I've kept my Whalen from my 03 car and plan on fitting it to a new S later this year. I was just wondering if have changed any dimensions from 03 onwards? I basically want to know if you think it'll fit.

My old 03 knob fits onto my new S. It can need a little tweak to get it on though.
When you slide the knob onto the shaft, hold the collar in the up position (against the spring) and push down hard so that the small balls have enough movement to get over the lip on the shaft You'll see what I mean when it comes to fitting it

It was a present so I was praying it'd fit.

Take it off and hold it upside down.
Look at the bottom surface of the sliding collar and compare it to the bottom surface of the inside tube (near the six locking balls).
If the tube is recessed approximately 1.5 mm lower than the collar, it should definitely fit; if not, it will likely need to be modified, requiring the extra material to be removed from the tube.
