I waste too much time and money looking into mods, hanging out on MINI forums talking cars with all the other MINIacs, go on club drives or go looking for the next great twisty road to drive on....I really don't have a life.

If we're talking R56 (2006- Present), the seatbelt sits way to close to the door, and if not careful can easily scratch the plastics.
No km/h figures on the actual speedo ( but km/h is on digital speedo)
CD times (how long song lasts) is not displayed
Biggest problem is (for Doopers at least) the DPF noise. The fan kicks in and it genuinely sounds like a hovercraft. It's all normal though, so not to worry!

To be honest I'm struggling to think of very much as you can tell! It is a lovely car!

i don't like the way that (in the R56) reverse is next to first gear, and you don't need to push down the gear lever or pull up a ring to select reverse, meaning that if i'm flustered, i've put it into reverse by accident a couple of times... not good.

That's also true of the R53s ;)

Yep damn right there, can be a bit tricky. Dunno why they didn't do a push down reverse- much easier.

I don't like all these what don't you like threads :D :p
I don't like that inteferring ejut in each thread called boggypornflakes :p

Seriously though, I'm fed up with the lower then expected build quality.
For what is perceived or more likely what we're conned into thinking to be a premium product BMW should do far better.

+1 on the build quality - my old Fiat Seicento felt better made.
There are quite a few other annoying things but the overall feel of the MINI (R53 for me) well outweighs the cons - if it didn't, I would have given it to my mother-in-law ages ago. Still one of the best-looking small cars on the road closely followed by an Alfa 147 GTA mmmmmmm yummy.

Don't like the roof liner on the r56 - seems a bit rougher than the r50/53... As said needs a water temperature gauge...

Hate the way that any water/rain off the roof falls straight onto the seat in the rain, the way everyone thinks its a girls car , the black that builds up on the exhaust.

However these are all niggles - they're great cars:)

Hi
I bought a 2003 MCS 4 months ago, prior to that I'd had VW's for years. The build quality is superior to VW but the interior is poor in comparison, even with the MK2 16v Golf I had 18 years ago. But it's a great car and ranks with the Golf which was the top sports hatch of it's day.

I don't like run flat tyres, harsh ride and expensive so they've gone for conventional tyres, plus a can of tyre weld, and they do make a difference and even more so on 16" wheels rather than 17" so I'm told.

Not much room in the boot and I wouldn't want to travel far in the back seats.

But buy one you won't regret it !!:)

lack of temp guage

way water pours off roof into car if you have window open .need better gutters
YES omg, it is so annoying! I used to forget all the time but i always remember now, same cant be said about my passengers lol!

Another thing is sometimes when you take the seatbelt off it doesnt retract quick enough and can sometimes get caught in the door, or on the seat adjuster getting back into the car.

Then same as others lol, spend too much money on it, spend too much time on here.

Apart from that I love the car and have no problems with it.

These are all wee niggly things and alot of peoples are the same so that should give you an idea of what to expect? They are excellent cars regardless.
