So, I've just gone and upgrade my R53 radio and got the adapter harness. However there a white connector with 3 wires going to it, but the adapter doesn't connect to it. So my question is what is the white connector used for? (R53 Facelift with steering wheel control)

I thought the same when I changed the head unit on my daughter's R50 ONE. The new unit works fine with the mystery white block fit into the adaptor, albeit connected to nothing, but it must have served some kind of purpose. The reason I took out the original unit and replaced it with a £12 non-CD radio was because it didn't have auxiliary or Bluetooth connectivity ( the £12 one does) and my (17 year-old) daughter doesn't own a single CD - all of her music is on her iPhone. Technology moves on, how times change. CDs would appear to be a redundant format.
