An early "next generation" turbo charged Cooper S, or some sort of "special edition" ;) limited run "end of the line" Supercharged Cooper S?

Just wondered how people felt about this AT THIS STAGE (when we know very little of the next generation S in terms of real details).

Deffo go for the Turbo!
Just for variety, I have/Got a Suprercharged S, next is Diesel MINI then will have to see about next generation! ;)
End of the line 'classic' for me please.............;)
Turbos are done to death...boooooring

Besides having seen that huge mole on the hood of the new cars  NO thanks.

Mooole.......moley moley mooooollee
Wanted an S but could not bear to part with my Cooper. Will wait now for a Turbocharged S.
Should really add that "if they did a special edition, what "type" would you want?" You know, luxury, lightweight, etc.
I'd like a full house JCW, maybe a bit more power, seats, brakes, suspension, wheels, Aero, with all the goodies...............

That would be quite perfect...............
I'd like some lightweight super special Supercharged MCS. Something along the lines of the M3 CSL
I'd probably have one of each - why not? A lightweight ultra powerful last edition.... The 'Works-Works' if you see waht I mean... bound to happen eventually...

However, I've got a feeling that in 10 years people will look back at the supercharged cars with a very special respect - you know, the original 'new' mini... supercharging will always be popular, and I think the engine (the 'weak link' according to journo's) will prove to be a strong, sturdy, reliable component for tuning....
Last of the "supercharged" for me......

And forget any special edtion.......I'll have it my way.........as Burger King often refers.........
I actually placed my (updated for the last time) order this week for an 05 MCSC with the Mini2 info about the new models coming out. I could wait, but I like the superchager and the sound it makes. Plus - you can get a turbo on many cars. A supercharger is a little more unique :D

The heart and soul of the Cooper S is the whine of the Supercharger IMO. I'm gutted they're replacing it with a Turbo, ****t ****t ****t...just isn't quite the same.:(

Hardcore light weight racer please. Leave the bloated sports cars to VW.;)

See... this is my dilemma.

Agree with both LMB AND Aston.

But they cant both be right, surely???

I think at this as yet unknown stage, it is difficult to make a choice.
Who knows, the new turbo may be groundbreaking (2.0l further tuned engine, small turbo, maybe 240-260 bhp.. then you are talking) and everyone will praise it...

"Re-defines the turbo'd hatch" the critics will say!! ...

... BUT at the moment I am going with a final semi-luxury limited (1965 only) edition (not spartan; basics + racing seats + AC) like the Corrado Storm (which incidently hold their value rather well).

A good thread... worthwhile question.

PS. As an aside, would (or should) the final, get-'em-before-we-stop-making-'em edition be JCW equipped?
And how about the Cooper? Should the final edition be MCS only?

That would be a travesty! there should be a special edition across the range.

Perhaps the MCS could be the lightweight sports orientated final edition, the cooper could be a fully loaded, luxury, bling, chrome galore version and the one could be a more demure luxury edition. However, it is interpreted, all models should get a signing out model and each should be tailored to the inherent personality that each model has.

Hey it's Christmas, Merry Christmas to you all and if anyone out there is just unwrapping their new mini then I hope Auntie Marge got you the right colour!
