There are a lot of people out there, after all, who can’t afford a Beemer, so why shouldn’t they be able to iPod their car, too? Crazy custom mounts are all well and good, but if you want something a little less, er, intense, the iPod2car hooks into your aftermarket stereo system, regardless of car model (so long as the stereo’s compatible), and track (and fast) forward and back can be controlled from the head or the steering wheel controls. Not bad, but the price is a little steep ($200) yet; hopefully we’ll see more stuff like this coming out in the future on the cheap.

is there a difference?
I think that it's not limited to a) bimmers or b) Alpine assuming it works OK.

Interesting that neither BMW nor MINI appear on the compatibility list.

Icelink isn't limited to BMW
It fits
cars with some aftermarkets stereos
plus
alfa, audi, citreon, fiat, ford, honda, jaguar, landrover, mercedes, peugeot, renault, rover, seat, skoda, toyota, vw
