I will be doing an oil and filter change on the 1.6 diesel. The handbook gives the grade but not capacity for an oil and filter change. Can anyone confirm how many litres are required?

True, a dip stick can tell you what you have put in. However most handbooks list the fluid capacities including exact amount when undertaking an oil and filter change. With this figure it saves a lot of messing about and the potential of having to extract oil if too much is added. 
To be honest the answer to your question will come from one of two groups. The first say that the on board computer will monitor your driving style and will be quite happy for the oil to be left in the engine for 15 / 20,000 miles.
The secound group (of which I am one) will change the oil every 7 / 8,000 miles as we believe new clean oil is good for the engine and the turbo etc.
