2011 stereo/navigation upgrade

Does anyone here know if you can replace the stock stereo/speedometer in a 2011 Mini Cooper base model, with the touchscreen/navigation unit from a 2012 Mini Cooper Countryman?
It seems like you should be able to, but there's a lot of conflicting information out there.
The goal is to install a backup camera and I would rather have it appear on the navigation display screen, that replace the rear view mirror and do it that way.

Find myself in the unenviable position of wanting to do the same thing. Several speedo rims with the Mph for sale here and from the UK. You made any progress? What are the options for the center part. Assuming it would be GPS as well as radio. 2011 was supposed to have Sirius capability built in, but no satellite option on my current radio. I am trying to make a functional sound system from a poorly working HK system. Really like the mph option On a dial instead of digital readout.

The unit I have can be connected to the internet and you can download any app just like a phone. The Torque App has different layouts for the readouts which is analog or digital. The GPS was preinstalled on the unit and it is pretty accurate, plus the radio plays fine while the GPS is going. I never tried Sirius on my unit because I just use the MP3 player.
That’s really nice. Still hoping to incorporate the analog mph.

Per the British Grosvenor Company, which does custom coding and unlocking, and only in England, it requires custom FSC codes to unlock the GPS. Trying to find out if the rim might be plug and play.

AllMag Auto Parts is intrigued and intends to plug in the GPS rim on the next Mini they get in to see if it works without any programming. That would allow using nearly any aftermarket DIN setup instead of having to rely on Chinese amalgam with no analog mph, or one that is in kilometers.
