I've had my new Countryman for two weeks now - and love it. However, I can't get the voice control to work at all. I've checked everything and it's all good to go, but "Hey Mini!" elicits no response at all. Any ideas?
Hi, I share your problems with the air conditioning which I would define as "semi-automatic..." fortunately I do not have the other defects you mentioned on my Countryman u25 but in my case I notice a frequent loss of radio signal (sometimes I lose the signal for a few seconds even when passing under a bridge) overall the Oled and the Id9 (software 7.2024.44) are discrete but, coming from a Korean car, in terms of multimedia and software Mini loses..I am glad I found this forum! We have a Countryman E, Australian market. I am concerned with the number of random glitches in the OS interface. I try to write them all down to make a list to take back to the dealer but really don't have time for that and some of them are so fleeting that I would find it hard to recreate them. I feel like it's not my job to beta test this software anyway.
With regard to Hey Mini, there are a couple of privacy settings you should check. You need to turn on one or maybe two of the Speech privacy settings, even if you use the microphone button instead of saying "Hey Mini." You may also need to check some of the Personal Assistant settings to actually turn on Hey Mini activation.
With regard to the Auto climate control, I took the "Very Low, Low Medium, High" settings to be equivalent to the "Automatic program air distribution" settings in some old BMW models - that it would adjust the fan speeds and outlet distribution within a range according to your preferred intensity of air. I hadn't really thought about anything above Low because I keep it on Very Low all the time. We had a recent software update about 2 weeks ago (I forgot the version number it it's the one that updated the Go Kart experience icon) and the climate control seems to behave slightly differently now ramping the fan up and down aggressively, until you change the setting again. It certainly seems to need more babysitting than my old BMW from 2010
Other random glitches I've come across
-Drive Recorder app sometimes doesn't load up - flashes up briefly then crashes. Maybe after the cameras were just in use and/or when Apple Carplay is connected.
-Range Estimate is silly - Drive in Green mode for an hour or two and your Range estimate looks great. Turn the car off and back on again 20 minutes later, it boots into Core mode and you've supposedly "lost" 80km of range
-Centre of touchscreen randomly stopped responding to touches and swipes. Possibly something to do with Android Auto.
-Seen the one where Nav button won't load Nav as someone else mentioned
-Unlock car remotely from app, change profile, it says can not find key, bring the other key close, it seems happy but the screen is black while the car drives OK
-Couple of times noticed window down buttons are unresponsive the first few times
-Software update introducing pointless UI changes then breaking other things - now the "DAB" font is way too small in the radio list
Congratulations for your consumption, I travel around 5.8 km/litre (around 40.7 mpg), I don't have the Driving Assistant Plus controls but honestly I don't feel the need for them for my routes, the "lane assist" annoys me when I have to avoid a cyclist on the edge of the road and he "pushes" me back towards the bike... how do you like the icons on the display? Do they flow easily or do they have "lag"?I’ve had my Countryman C Level 2 for almost 3 weeks and it has been faultless. Auto A/C seems to work fine as do all the lighting systems, safety systems and everything else. Easy to deactivate Speed Beeps by pressing SET button on steering wheel for a few seconds. Other systems are not intrusive at all. The auto driving cruise system is a revelation - set the speed and the car steers itself between road lines, decelerates and accelerates to maintain safe distance from car ahead. Just got to keep your hands on the wheel otherwise it beeps at you! Great for motorways and dual carriageways. Anyone know if it stops/starts in stop/go traffic? According to the MPG it is averaging 49.7 MPG - but I will take that with pinch of salt until I do a few brimful to brimful tests.
Quiet, comfortable and easy to drive. So far, so good.
To be honest once I had set the display up and decided Core was best I haven't changed anything and rarely swipe to another screen while driving. I sometimes check journey data - distance & MPG - after I have parked and that seems quick and smooth.Congratulations for your consumption, I travel around 5.8 km/litre (around 40.7 mpg), I don't have the Driving Assistant Plus controls but honestly I don't feel the need for them for my routes, the "lane assist" annoys me when I have to avoid a cyclist on the edge of the road and he "pushes" me back towards the bike... how do you like the icons on the display? Although I don’t use it, the Hey Mini voice control still works in mine after 6 months of ownership without having to pay any subscription. I think it’s only for some additional “advanced” features that you have to pay - although I don’t recall what those features actually are I remember thinking “well, I don’t need those” at the time.To be honest once I had set the display up and decided Core was best I haven't changed anything and rarely swipe to another screen while driving. As usual with modern cars I wish controls I do use while driving - radio and heated seats - were knobs and not touchscreen, so much easier to adjust without taking eyes off road.
I will try the Hey Mini voice control some time but not sure I want to pay monthly for it once the 3 month trial period is over.
No problem with overthinking cyclists as yet.
With regard to auto A/C - have you been able to drive the car in any hot weather? Mine seems fine during the recent milder weather. It’s only at more extreme temperatures that it appears to struggle.I’ve had my Countryman C Level 2 for almost 3 weeks and it has been faultless. Not been any really hot weather to try out auto aircon. However, on a recent frosty morning the fan certainly speeded up as the engine warmed up and then the fan speed dropped as cabin neared set temperature. Only time cooling aircon was noticeable was after the car had been parked in the sun for a while. Felt hot when we got in but as soon as I started engine fan came on faster and cooled cabin quickly - then fan reverted to the slow setting as the cabin temperature dropped to the set temperature. So, so far, it is working fine - BUT I guess I need to try in really hot or cold weather to be sure it is working as it should. With regard to auto A/C - have you been able to drive the car in any hot weather? In my experiments with driving assistance I found that it does work in stop/start traffic but if you are stopped for more than a few seconds you have to prod the accelerator to move off. I believe this is by design.
Well, certainly sounds like it’s working, that’s excellent news. Mine definitely behaves better in the recent milder weather, but the weather also coincided with a software update so until we get some really hot weather again I can’t be sure if it’s fixed or not. I reman ever optimistic. Not been any really hot weather to try out auto aircon. The main problem with the air conditioning actually happens with high temperatures, if you want you can come here in central Italy in the summer... (about 40 degrees Celsius) in reality with those temperatures I also found it very hot even the "vescin" you like found with that fabric?Well, certainly sounds like it’s working, that’s excellent news. I'm new to the forum, and unsure how to create a post. Does anyone know if you can code your key to the vehicle so that your profile is chosen automatically, without having to slecet it via the screen every time?I've had my new Countryman for two weeks now - and love it. Is it a new car and do you have the Mini Connect App on your smartphone? If new you get 3 months free subscription to the App.I'm new to the forum, and unsure how to create a post. It will be worth asking them to help now. They will certainly have gained a lot of information and experience since June and have direct access to Mini technical services. Honestly it is the easiest solution and, if my dealer is anything to go by, they will be only too willing to help. The salesperson who handled my sale even drove 10 miles to my house to sort out a problem with my wife’s key access to Mini ID.Yes I am in the UK. The dealer I purchased the vehicle from weren't familiar with the product at all. The sales woman hadn't even been on a training course for the new mini. She was due to go on it the week I bought it. So she didn't even know the different models etc... I did the research myself.. she was very good though, I can't say otherwise. Thank you for your help.
