Back to the original question, although I have a new 2024 Cooper S, I had a similar problem with voice commands (Hey Mini) and 'Alexa' not working for about 24 hours for no apparent reason. Then, this evening, it started working again. Most bizarre! I find the air conditioning very confusing and really do wish there were physical knobs / dials. I hope you get it sorted.

There is a new software update so maybe it will solve some of your problems. The Auto A/C on my Countryman works fine and, for the few times I have used it , voice command works okay, although I initially had to ask a couple of times to get things done.

I have experienced all the issues mentioned plus the the boot only opening half way whilst using the hands free foot waggle under the bumper technique
I’ve had that, but I think I’ve narrowed it down to proximity sensors. If I stand well back after waggling my foot it opens fine.

Yes, it took me a while to work that out as well! If you stand too close the hatch refuses to open, stand a bit further away and everything works. My wife insists that saying "open sesame" as you waggle your foot guarantees success..,.

Other things I’ve noticed on my new mini countryman - windscreen sensors - not consistent- sometimes screen is totally covered in rain and they don’t work; automatic hold just went off; air con takes ages to warm up; it’s stopped showing WhatsApp messages - all to name but a few - I’m sadly starting to hate my new car - I don’t trust it!

That is sad. I don’t know why you are having so many problems as my Countryman (Classic with Level2) has behaved well since new. Took me a while to sort out all the gizmos but once done everything worked as expected. Before I got the car I read about problems with A/C, lights, voice activation etc. so was quite apprehensive, however, I haven’t had any real problems with anything at all - if you disregard some idiot denting the passenger door while parked. That cost me £150 but ‘Dents’ repair completely removed the dent back to new.
Have you downloaded the latest software update? It seems to make the display transitions quicker and smoother and I noticed this morning that the Auto A/C was even more reactive in warming the cabin. I am sure there are a number of other items it will have updated, maybe not visible to me but maybe will resolve some of your problems - worth trying anyway. Downloading update is dead easy, download to your smartphone via the MINI App and then next time you drive the car it will get uploaded to the car automatically. Then all you have to do when you have parked the car and won’t be driving for 20+ minutes is Activate the update via your Smartphone MINI App. After update has been activated worth going through the options to check those you want are activated. e.g. it switched off the Assisted Driving view in the HUD so just had to reactivate.
Give it a try - otherwise get your Dealer to sort out your problems.

I've had my new Countryman for two weeks now - and love it. However, I can't get the voice control to work at all. I've checked everything and it's all good to go, but "Hey Mini!" elicits no response at all. Any ideas?
I had the exact same issue after applying the latest updates on our Countryman 2024 SE ALL4 with MINI OS 9: the Personal Assistant (voice control) stopped responding verbally (though it still understood and executed my requests), and the spoken route guidance was unavailable (despite the visual navigation guidance functioning alright). This problem occured in both languages we use, English and German. I tried deleting and reinstalling both language packages multiple times but the issue persisted, there was still no voice anywhere.

The fix:
  1. Switched to a new language that hadn’t been used in the car before (in my case: Italiano). Everything worked perfectly in Italian!
  2. Removed the existing language packages (English, German) just to be sure.
  3. Switched back to English and allowed the language package to download fully. Success! The Personal Assistent and the route guidance had their English voices again! (Then switching to German was also successful.)
Just to be sure I restarted the system between each step (by holding down the volume button), though it may not have been necessary.

I have had 2 issues with my brand new Countryman, they are separate to the aircon issue (which I seem to have). I tried to start the car a few days ago and got an error message saying Drivetrain malfunction. I could not start the car at all. I got out, locked the car and left it for a few minutes, opened up, got in and the car started fine, albeit with a warning to not drive it. I contacted my dealer and they took it in and did something (no idea what). Today I got in and all I had was a black screen. The car was drivable, but I could not access any features including aircon or any vehicle settings. I could see the speedo at the top and the gauges but nothing else. I did 2 or 3 trips, one back to the dealer who were bewildered. Then all of a sudden it all came back! I had to reassign the key to me using the QR code on screen.

I am not at all technically minded but I am fed up. My car is on Motability, I am going to enquire what my options are. I am reluctant to, but I will send it back and find something that is reliable.
Hi,yeah I've had same sort of problem..screen is on ok,speedometer works, but the climate control, sat nav, music etc symbols just don't work..you can see them, when you touch either symbol the screen intermittently flashes for a short while but doesn't work..the actual temperature numbers have disappeared too,so the fan is stuck on hot and it's obviously stuck on A/C cos my petrol gauge is rapidly going down...so confusing!!! So I’ve bought a 2025 countryman S all4 classic. Haven’t noticed issues with fan speed but will test it out. I’ve also not been able to get the dashboard ambient lights to appear. Seen loads of YouTube videos with lit up dash in various patterns but mine just doesn’t show despite being turned on.
The other thing I’m struggling to get used to is how it slows down by itself and excessively compared to the cooper s sport hatch that I traded in. Not sure if it’s the mild hybrid, the double clutch gearbox or some sort of safely setting. When driving along a straight road with a corner at the end, when I take my foot off the throttle, getting ready to brake, the car just starts slowing down excessively anyway so I can take the corner pretty much without braking at all! The hatch was never like this and I had to use the brakes a lot more (normally!) Must be really disconcerting for anyone behind because they never see brake lights even when I’m slowing right down! Anyone else notice this?

It is to do with the mild hybrid system. The electric assist motor/ generator is being driven by the forward motion of the car to generate power to charge the battery and thus acts as a brake. If the battery is fully charged you will find the braking effect lessens.
