Hi, I've just changed front and rear brake pads on my mcs along with the sensor wires that clip in, but the warning light has not cancelled, does this have to be reset at dealers?

no, but it can be a pain in the *** to do. Put the car in neutral, turn the key a click (do not start the car. hold the runflat reset button down (under the hand brake) - the Runflat light comes on, release the button, hold it down again. keep dong this until your just about to give up and hey presto the light goes out. I think i cycled thru it three times last time.

hi - i'm in our MCS at the moment with the same problem, following these instructions - nothing.

the brake warning light only comes on with the ignition key in position 2 (Tony - your instructions say turn the key a click - i guess you mean 2, but not start the car?).

I can get the runflat light to come on, but not back off again without removing the ignition key completely.

any ideas??

position 2 would be the correct key position to perform any reset ops :D

Yo tonyT3

You're instructions worked first go for me! Thanks heaps.

Yes my performance place i deal with (Euromini) installed a set of EBC Green Stuffs both front and back. Sensor only wore out at the back. He changed it for me yesterday.. took him 20min.

But thanks again for your instructions. And yes its turn 2 to auxiliary's.

I assume you have changed the damaged sensor....? (when the pads need changing they damage the sensor - needs striping out and replacing - fiddly job)....

Yes, dont start the car. Takes time to convince the ECU to reset the light, first time out I had just about given up...)
not sure who you were asking, but yes i've changed the damaged sensor....still no joy.. either i'm giving up too early waiting for the ecu to reset the light, or it's the rear sensor which has gone (i've only replaced the front pads so far) :aargh: .

I'll try a bit longer (have waited a couple of minutes so far). If that doesnt work, I'll replace the rear pads too (once i've bought a tool to wind back the rear pistons).

Hi, my brake warning light and traction control light came on after polishing my alloys so I am thinking I must have sprayed it on the discs or sensors or something....

I tried the above but when the run flat light comes I press the reset button and it goes out, but when I do it a second time the light does not go out and nor do the warning lights.

Any ideas?

this advice hasn't worked for me, I have the same issue as GavP

Changed front pads and sensor today (rears are fine so untouched), followed this procedure, runflat light comes on, but won't go off unless I turn the ignition back to position 0 and back again, but at no point does the brake pad warning light go off.

Car is a 2003 Cooper Auto, I had the handbrake off, door shut, tried it in neutral and park, same result. Replacement sensor and pads are from Mintex

Help please !!!
