When I have named my automobiles usually I've been driving the car waiting for an epiphany while listening to music(Cake, Blues Traveller and Barenaked Ladies have provided inspiration so far) while driving the unnamed car in question.

Personnally I have two basic rules when naming a sports car.

1. The name must be feminine

2. It CAN NOT be the name of anybody I personally know.
I thought about this then decided it would be too risky if I called her name out in my sleep. Didn't fancy the wife doing a "Bobbit" on me so decided to call mine Cosmo - since it's Cosmos black.

Usually I have to wait a while after getting a vehicle for the right name to happen, if it even does happen. But in the case of the mini, the names just came to me as I was building them on the miniusa site. The s I was building just said 'emerson' to ne. The cooper said, 'obie.' So my car is named obie.

"S been different for each of my cars, but the "good" ones always name themselves. (The name comes in a moment of inspiration, and it's just right.)

Well my nickname for as long as I can remember has been "pac", probably because it's the first 3 letters of my last name and while growing up I played all of the pac-man games. So when I brougth my all electric blue mini home I thought and thought and thought... finally I came up with "Inky".

I just got my new plate (which I'll take pictures of tomorrow) cause it's really cool.

For those that don't get "Inky".... it's the blue ghost in pac-man :)

My since gone 02 MCS DS/W 123 was named Montauk for the color of his skin behaving much like the stormy sea there.

My 04 MCS JCW MC40 is named Che for his rebelious nature (against me and the nasty dealership that delivered him alike), his links to Argentina, and his oh-so-commie coloration. How big the red star on the roof is the question.

Am a new (and proud) mini cooper owner (bought on 5/26), and I gave some thought to how I would name my "dream come true".

Since I am a developer (aka advanced programmer at least in my company), I thought of
"puter skooter". But, yesterday, I was looking out my window at my mini, and the name "Christina" floated into my head without even thinking about a name for her.

So, Christina it is.

As an aside, one of my sons said to me that it should be "Christine"...after the Stephen King novel. Nope...it is Christina.

It started off as ebony

From the film white men cant jump which I watched a few days after purchasing my black cooper

theres a quote "Ebony & Ivory" and it kinda related to me the car was black and I was white

But the missus calls her beyonce because shes black and beautiful and Beyone has sort of stuck ever since

Ebony is her Nickname now ;)
