Mass airflow sensor missing?

I have the same engine (N12B16a non turbo) in my 2008 Mini. I went to the garage today to check the error codes as the engine light came on.

Occasional smoke coming out from the exhaust + car jerks when accelerating.

Could MAP be the potential problem causing all these errors? I assume that this engine doesn't have air mass flow sensor, only map, is that right?

So I did a smoke test - breather hose had a big crack/hole in it. I'm complete amateur, but it seems that apart from air leak, oil was also dripping from it as the engine is dirty below the pcv hose. I replaced original plastic one with fuel hose. When I fitted it, I realised it collapsed a bit on angles (doesn't block the airflow massively), but I took my chances and left it as it was. The engine runs stable at idle, got its full power back, but it still hesitates when accelerating from time to time. I wonder if it could have anything to do with the bended fuel hose, and whether it would be worth to get the original part from BMW? I used fuel hose because they recommended that solution somewhere online, saying that it should work properly. Any advices?

Thanks in advance.

I replaced the split breather hose with the original part and unfortunately problem still occurs. However, previous removed fault codes (P1105 and 2B15) turned into P111B (Mass or Volume Air Flow via O2 Sensor Too Low Bank 1) and 2B68 (Air Mass Flow Plausibility). Car got back its power, but jerks and hesitates when accelerating from time to time. When engine is warm it chokes on idle (at traffic lights etc.) - almost stalls. What's surprising - start/stop started working from time to time (I thought this function was dead since it hasn't been working since I bought it).

Any ideas? There were no air leaks apart from that split pcv pipe. I have another N12 engine cooper running fine, I'm thinking about swapping inlet manifolds over just to check if the problem is maf/map sensor itself? As I understand maf/map is placed inside inlet manifold, is that correct?

I'll be grateful for any ideas.
