I have been having a rough time reading the oil level on the factory dipstick and would like to see what options are avaialble for a clear, flatblade, dipstick.

This is important as my car has been burning oil/oil is being deposited within the boost pipes so I am seeing smoke from my exhaust intermittently. I need to check my oil atleast once a week to make sure I have suffifient oil without eyeballing it and/or guessing.

Thank you for your assistance.

I found this universal dipstick that is at O'Reily Auto Parts that was recommended by my mechanic.

Many folks have taken the oem brown "dart" style one and filed one side flat. Not all the way, just a flat section. that apparently makes it easier to see the oil on the stick. I suppose scribing some crossed lines on the flat (like an older NA dipstick) would make it even easier to see the oil level.

I haven't filed ours as I can read the oem one as long as I wipe it clean, wait for the oil to drain back to the sump and play it back and forth in my fingers as the light shines on it.

It's not an ideal dipstick, but it does work with the right techniques.....
