P0101 and P0113 Error Codes

So, after my futile attempts to get to the oil cooler [as recounted in another thread] on the missus's countryman SD, I gave up and stuck everything back together again, but am now getting P0101 and P0113 error codes....

Intarwebs research suggests problems with the metering of the air intake. And while removing various bits on my aforementioned mission, I did notice that the air filter box had a hole in the bottom [which I patched] and also that the short flexi-pipe which goes from the air intake to the rocker cover was split [also temporary patched that with silicone self-amalgamating tape.

So there were already a few existing leaks in the intake system although, strangely, the error codes have only appeared since I patched them. I didn't actually remove or touch any of the sensors before --just unplugged their cables. So it seems unlikely the sensors are actually damaged. But I've also double checked that I've reconnected them all and they all look good. I cleared the codes with my OBDC dongle. But they've come back again.

Apart from that, I removed [and obviously replaced] the following

  • Intercoooler downpipe [just disconnected top end to allow a bit of wiggle room]
  • Elbow joint duct between air pipe and turbo
  • Intake manifold [didn't remove it as I couldn't get it to separate from the shudder valve. But I did wiggle it slighlty away from the block at the top end.

So, any suggestions on what to check next?

Also, I'm assuming the two error codes are related, as in one has led to the other. So which one is most likely to have been the culprit?

Cheers.

I just nipped out again while the missus was getting the dinner on and had another go with my scanner.

This time, the EML light went out when I started the car. But I still got the P0101 code with the scanner, although not the p0113 one. Mind you I didn't drive the car anywhere just idled it, so maybe P0113 comes on after driving a bit.

I was able to dig down into the live data menus and get a figure for the Air Flow Rate from the MAF. It was fluctuating a bit but it was reading between about 25 and 27 g/s.

Does anyone know what the reference value is supposed to be?

Also, I noticed that the scanner is showing "Sporadic Code" next to the error details. Does that suggest a dodgy connection somewhere causing the error to comes and go?
