Problem with N/S wing mirror

The N/S wing mirror lens doesn't seem to come in far enough for me to see anything behind me.

As I'm 5' 7'' tall, could it be that I sit too far forward and the mirrors don't adjust that far?

If that's the result, does anyone have a solution to this problem?

Thanks.

Hi ya

Sorry if you have tried this
Are they electric folding or just electrically adjustable
I take it the lens moves when you use the toggle switch to move it.
The other thing to try is hold the wing mirror with both hands, and twist it like you want to fold it, twist it towards the windows then twist it back you should feel it clunk into place.
It should be in line with the mounting on the door. Mine got clipped and was out and I had the same sort of problem. I just reset it
Hope this helps if it does not try to post some pictures :) and we will see what we can do

Hi and thanks for your advise, but I'd already thought of that (great minds must think alike!).

The mirrors are electric folding.

The other thing that I'm thinking of trying is removing the mirror and trying to file away a small piece of the mirror base, or maybe try placing a few metal shims/washers underneath the mirror base.

The problem seems to be that the mirror lense can't come far enough forward or far enough down (even though it can't physically move any further) for me to see the traffic behind.

Any other suggestions?

Hi ya

if you new me you would take that thing about great minds back :)))
i have attached some pictures of my mirror and measured the movement,
my lens is slightly convex (dished outwards) sorry if you know that.
picture 1 and 2 are when mirror is at full adjustment using toggle to the right
picture 3 and 4 are when mirror is at full adjustment using toggle to the left
and the last picture is looking down at the mirror for alignment .
i don't think filing the notch off is a good idea i think it is there to stop the mirror loosing position due to vibration so on.
have a look hope they help, one of my mates she is 5ft 1 and she does not have trouble and at 5ft 7 you are not much shorter than me.
i wonder if may be the mirror lens has been broken and there is a bit of glass in the mechanism or if the lens is not on correct.
and now its going to take me for ever to get my mirror back so i am happy with it :))))))))

Still no joy!

I'm going out later to buy convexed lenses to see if that helps.

Mirror problem is now "temporarily" sorted.
I removed the mirror glass and managed to wedge a small piece of wooden dowling between the motor and the mirror body.
