The above titled Thread has disappeared – WHY?

There are hundreds of pages of IBS issues on BMW Forums and motoring websites worldwide and yet the same issue when raised on MINI2.com is deleted.

The deleted Thread was sharing information and assisting those of us affected by the issue who are not being kept informed by MINI.

UPDATE: Original Thread has now been reinstated and Thread titles edited - thank you to the VS Moderation Team. (y)

I was told by my MINI dealer that replacement parts (for the Integrated Brake System) are on order and should arrive towards the end of September but it could be into October.

My car is also a MINI Cooper SE (J01) that was due for collection today, 2nd Sept.

My understanding of the issue is that all cars on STOP notice, ie sitting at dealers (sold and unsold stock) as well as in transit to the dealers (on ships from China for the J01 cars) will need the IBS power boosting brake module to be changed before the STOP sale notice can be lifted.

The software update to alert the driver of a potential issue, mentioned above, is applicable to cars that have already been sold and are in use. The IBS power boosting module will still need to be replaced at a later date despite only 1% of cars having the potential of a faulty Integrated Brake System. However, the priority for this new IBS module is firstly for cars in factory production, then for cars that are sold but can't be delivered, then for stock cars to allow them to be sold and finally for cars already delivered and in use.

Whilst the replacement IBS brake modules will supposedly start to become available at the end of September the first batch will be in very short supply with dealers only getting a few and having to prioritise who gets them.

I’m tempted to cancel the order. Go for a full JCW. Thought we might have more info now an image has been leaked.
I think they've got their hands full just now!

New JCW will have 255bhp from single motor driving the front wheels. Kerb weight is 10Kg down on SE and is expected to use the same 49.2KWh (useable capacity) battery, possibly with reduced range.

Hope that helps UrbanSplash. ;)

Had the following from the dealer just now. Zero commitments on timescale. Absolutely appalling.
Sure is and it contradicts everything I've seen elsewhere that suggest the first cars (after factory production) to get the replacement parts will be those new SOLD vehicles dealers can't deliver because of the STOP sale notice and not for "vehicles currently on the road that have been affected".

Poor english and punctuation also!

We ordered our new Mini Cooper SE Exclusive on 13th March - I should have known the date meant we were in for a troubled ride!

We got a very good offer on our current car and hence sold it in July and have now been without a car ever since, that's over 2 months. Our new car arrived on the 10th August and we saw it on the 13th (that date again!) and was supposed to be delivered on 2nd Sept., that was until the STOP notice was issued.

No offers of a loan car or compensation from our dealer unlike some on here. The only offer we ever received was a refund and so, sadly, we accepted and cancelled our Mini today.

It was the only car we wanted also and my Wife and I are bitterly disappointed. We can not wait indefinitely and need a car and will buy something as a stop gap and reconsider our position later in the year.

The software fix is applicable to a very few cars only and you're obviously one of the lucky ones. The majority of the 1.53 million MINI, BMW and RR cars affected require a new integrated brake hydraulic module to be fitted. They are in very, very short supply and the first cars prioritised to receive the new part (outside of factory production) are cars on STOP sale notice that have been sold and can't be delivered to their customers.

Exactly the same for me. Placed my order in mid August 2024 for the car that was sitting in the dealer showroom (Mini Cooper SE JCW Level 3). Got a great part-ex offer on my current 72 plate Smart EQ ForFour. Due to collect our new Mini on 2nd Sep 2024, so paid the cash balance due a few days before ... then Bang. There went the Stop Delivery notice. Dealer has been very helpful and refunded our cash balance on 16th Sep, literally within hours of me requesting it - so no complaints there. So at least we still have a car and I've only paid a £1K deposit to the dealer, so I'm not out of pocket. My oustanding concern (other than how long all this is going to take to sort out) is that the car we ordered is now sitting outside exposed to all the weather. What my big worry is the degradation on the brake discs due to rusting whilst the car is stationary outside. I've raised this with the dealer and I'm waiting for their response. As we all know, rust on brake discs can lead to serious pitting of the steel discs leading to brake squeaking and squealing. Would this issue be covered under Warranty if the car has been outside at the dealer's for months? Cancelling my order is not an option as this is exactly the make/model of car we want, and it fits into our small garage. Our new car has not yet been registered, so does anyone have any other thoughts or suggestions on what might be the best option here?
In regard to brake discs they rust every time it rains and the cars sits or is washed and then sits about until driven again. Driving soon sees the corrosion wiped off the disc and the squeaking/squealing is usually caused by the brake pads rather than the discs. Anti-squeal shims are usually fitted between the caliper piston and the brake pad to prevent this.

If the car has been in the showroom and only recently been moved outside I wouldn't be concerned even if it sits for a while. Pitting of the discs would take a very long time to occur. It would be worse if it was in the middle of a wet and cold winter but even then the pads should clean up the discs pretty quickly.

P.S. Is your car not an SE 'Sport' rather than JCW - the JCW model is not due for release until the end of the year?

I have just had a call from my dealer, my car has been allocated “the” part by Mini/BMW. They have to wait for it to arrive, fit it to the car then confirm with Mini all numbers marked to my chassis and then they can register and release the car.
Out of the cars they have on stop they have had 2 allocated with the part and mine is lucky to be one. As this is the first for them they are not yet sure how long this next step of the process will take.
I will post further updates here but I hope all of you on here will hear a similar update from your dealers soon.
Very pleased for you Kirstenbu27! :D

I understand he fitting of the new brake booster module takes around 3.5 hours (I posted a link to the procedure, albeit on a BMW, somewhere above).
