The Adaptive Cruise Control on my Clubman is just maddening!
I have owned the car for a little over two months or 2,000 miles: the Adaptive Cruise Control loves to randomly disengage when it mistakes shadows or bends on the road ahead as "obstacles."
But the truly maddening issue is its insistence to completely deactivate itself when I am driving on the freeway. The first time it did it it was raining a little hard. According to Reddit, these systems don't like heavy rain and tend to do that. But yesterday it did it again on a PERFECTLY CLEAR DAY.
To make matters worse, the stupid system then refuses to re-engage and issues this long-*ss message on the center screen, which is impossible to decipher when you are barreling down the freeway at 80 MPH.
VERY frustrating!
I have resorted to completely turning off the "Active" part of the cruise control --by simultaneously pressing on both distance adjustment buttons for several seconds-- and using it in manual mode. Problem solved.
If you are considering getting this feature, do NOT waste your money. The system is garbage.
