Undo the 3 8mm bolts on each light, remove the washer if fitted and the on the back of the chrome ring you will see a number off clips that you will need to pry open vey gently as there are delicate.

Most of the tips on removing the tabs from the headlight rings suggest prying the tabs TOWARDS the centre of the headlight - this is unreliable and could easily lead to breakage of the taps, and eventual weakening and breakage of the retaining guides on the rings. I know because I broke a few with this method.

The simplest and most reliable way to remove the tabs is to take a fine-tipped flat-headed screwdriver, and pry the tabs AWAY from the centre of the headlight, which is how they are designed to be removed.

 

you do not need to remove any chrome trim to plasti-dip it. get the aerosol cans. do a you tube search for plasti dip. there are many vids to show you how easy it is. no need to remove the parts from the car.

 

Nice suggestion about the chrome ring,its very graceful on the Mini Cooper and nice suggestion about this ring that not a need to remove the chrome ring.Its a great idea.Nice sharing i got on this thread.
